I Was Thinking

Like water dripping

plink plink plink

eroding drop by drop

all in its path

Bitter thoughts skipping

think think think

though lightly brushing the surface

leave an impression

And with time and repetition

plink think plink think

corrosion

The soft earth

churns muddy

even steel

turns rusty

unless it’s stopped

hush hush hush

What was whole becomes broken

What was fresh, spoiled

One drop

One thought

paved the way

All is swept away

and

when the waters dry

the thoughts blink out

destruction

a hard, beaten, ugly landscape–

home–

remains
